Paxana Wiedeman
Technical support, domain systems, and mobile development. Portland, Oregon.
I have spent five years at Automattic diagnosing problems for WordPress.com customers, and the five years before that building and shipping an Android app and the API behind it. Underneath both is a Computer Science degree from Portland State and a summer contributing to GNOME.
Since 2025 I have also led Automattic’s Domains Guild, the cross-team group responsible for domain expertise across the support organization. Guild members sit on their own teams under their own leads, so the role runs on expertise rather than reporting lines. I am the escalation point for the hard cases — DNS, registrations, transfers, certificates, and the conversations with registrars and registries that some of those cases need.
That combination is the point. I can read a stack trace and I can explain it to someone who has never seen one. I know what a reproducible bug report needs, because I have been the person who had to fix them and the person who had to write them.
What I am looking for
Roles in technical account management, QA, or technical support — ideally somewhere I can keep learning and whose values I can be proud of.
The Skills page is the quickest way in — pick any skill and it shows you exactly where I used it and what I did with it.
